Rochford District Council News Release

Cllr Mrs Julie Gooding has been appointed to serve as the Chairman of Rochford District Council for the period May 2021 to May 2022.
Currently a District Councillor for the Hawkwell West Ward, Councillor Mrs Gooding has been a member of Rochford District Council since 2016 and has lived in Hawkwell for 43 years. Cllr Mrs Julie Gooding is married to Cllr James Gooding, recently elected as a fellow District Councillor for the Roche South Ward, along with one daughter, Jenna Hinton and a 16-year-old granddaughter who also expresses an interest in politics.

On learning of her appointment, Councillor Mrs Gooding said: “I am highly honoured to have been elected as chairman of the council this municipal year 2021-22, to represent RDC.

 “I would like to thank Cllr Robin Dray, my predecessor, and Cllr Carole Weston (Vice-Chairman) for all their dedicated services to the Council.

“It is my intention to work hard representing the council to the best of my ability, along with the Vice-Chairman this year Cllr Mike Steptoe.
“I look forward to the forthcoming engagements and meeting everyone”.
Councillor Mrs Gooding will be supported during her Civic Year by Roche South Ward Member and former Leader of the Council, Councillor Mike Steptoe.
The appointments were made during Rochford District Council’s meeting of Annual Council on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
