We are writing to you as an individual or organisation which has responded to a planning consultation for Rochford District Council in the past, or has otherwise indicated that you wish to be alerted to new planning consultations.

Rochford District Council (the Council) has today launched a public consultation on the next stage of its new Local Plan: the Spatial Options Document.

The Spatial Options consultation sets out a range of spatial challenges and opportunities for Rochford District over the next 20 years (to 2040). It builds on the previous round of consultation held in 2017-18 (the Issues and Options), and incorporates the latest evidence, policy changes and trends to present a series of options which could help achieve a sustainable vision for Rochford District.
The document covers themes including placemaking and design, climate change, housing for all, employment and jobs, transport and connectivity, heritage, biodiversity and open spaces.

The Spatial Options document, and its accompanying draft Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA), is open for consultation for a period of 6 weeks, closing at 5pm on Wednesday 8th September 2021.

The easiest way to get involved is by using our online consultation portal at https://rochford.oc2.uk

If you are unable to use the online portal, you can view physical copies of the consultation material in local libraries and Council offices during operating hours. Those not using the online portal are able to send comments in via email to: SpatialOptions@rochford.gov.uk or by post to Strategic Planning, Council Offices, South Street, Rochford, SS4 1BW.

Please note all comments are required to be published online alongside your name. You should ensure your response includes your name, address and (where possible) email address. We are not able to accept anonymous or abusive comments.

More information on the Spatial Options consultation can be viewed on our website at www.rochford.gov.uk/SpatialOptions alongside an interactive map which allows you to look in more detail at your local area.

The Council’s Strategic Planning Team will also be holding a series of engagement events to promote the consultation including virtual Q&As and outdoor displays. Further detail on dates, times and locations will be published on the Council’s website when confirmed.

Should you have any difficulties accessing the consultation, or wish to be removed from our mailing list, please email SpatialOptions@rochford.gov.uk where we will endeavour to respond to you within 2 working days.
