Please be advised that there has now been a positive identification of Avian Influenza in our area.
If
you keep just a few birds or thousands, you are now legally required to
follow strict biosecurity measures on your farm or small holding.
We will be taking advice from the relevant authorities and will feed
this back to residents. Advice remains not to touch any dead birds and
not to encourage the live swans onto the public land / slipway where
they can contaminate the ground which could present a risk to domestic
poultry or humans by transferring disease on footwear and clothing. Use
caution, wash footwear after walking in that area and do not touch the
