Rochford District Council News Release

Published: 15 June 2021

During the Covid-19 pandemic Rochford District Council ensured that free off-street car parking was available in all its Pay & Display car parks to on duty NHS staff members, health or social care workers, and NHS Volunteers.
Following the publication of the government’s roadmap for lifting Covid-19 restrictions, a decision has been taken by central government to withdraw the emergency parking pass by 21 June 2021, this means passes will no longer be acceptable within council car parks.

However, whilst the Covid-19 parking pass expires by 21 June 2021, the Council will continue to provide volunteer parking passes which offers free parking to NHS volunteers whilst undertaking their voluntary duties at the NHS vaccination centres.

Passes can be used at the following locations:
• Mill Arts and Events Centre car park, Rayleigh,
• Audley Mills Surgery, Websters Way car park, Rayleigh
• The Puzey Family Practice, Back Lane car park, Rochford

Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for IT, Tourism, Housing and Parking, Cllr Mr. Daniel Efde, said: “Since the start of the pandemic it has become even more evident how much we rely on our volunteers and appreciate the tenacity and sacrifices to help support the NHS in keeping us as safe as possible.

“Whilst the Covid-19 parking pass will no longer be valid by 21 June 2021, we are delighted to announce that the Council will continue to offer free parking to our healthcare heroes, whilst volunteering at our local vaccination centres as a small gesture of our appreciation.”

The pass will be valid for 6 months from 21 June 2021 and will be reviewed every 6 months.
