UPDATE - 18.08.2026 - IMPORTANT NOTICE - PART CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH 9  (Along river by Recreation Ground).

From Essex County Council Highways: 

The Essex County Council (Footpath 9, Hullbridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2026

The S14(2) notices for the immediate closure of Footpath 9, Hullbridge.
The Public Notice relating to the extension order, which will appear in the South East Essex Evening Echo on the 24/09/2026.
The Order will be made on 24/09/2026 will come into effect on 25/09/2026 and the restriction will remain in place until made safe.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - PART CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH 9 - 13.11.2025.  (Along river by Recreation Ground).
Part Closure - effective 10th November 2025 for 21 days then extended by another 21 day notice.
Part closure - effective 1st December 2025 for 21 days then extended by a 6 month order. See all documents in this post for more further detailed information.

Footpath 9 - part Closure - Public Notice

 

In and around Hullbridge there is a good footpath network which takes you along the River Crouch or amongst  fields and greenbelt. 
Every Monday at 10.45am a Health Walk is organised from Pooles Lane car park in Hullbridge.  Other walks and park runs are organised  in and around the District. 

South East Essex Health Walks / Park Runs

Footpaths are the responsibility of Essex Council Council to maintain/repair other than the specific footpaths listed below which are maintained by Hullbridge Parish Council.  Examples for repair and maintenance are damaged pavements, loose or broken kerbs, overhanging vegetation, cycle paths, damaged signs situated on the footpath/pavement. 

Hullbridge Parish Council are responsible for the following footpaths: 

  • P5 - From Burnham Road (opposite Beeches Road) exiting Long Lane.
  • P12 - Bottom of Keswick Avenue exiting Pooles Lane, opposite the recreational ground.
  • Suzie's Field - From Long Lane exiting Lower Road, near allotment site.
